There is an old local story — half legend, half truth — that is told about a monstrous pike nicknamed “Old Baker”.

Experience:

A visit to the Ledges…Pioneers Place, followed by a walk to the natural park to observe the birds, offers a delightful experience.  In the vicinity, you will also find the 150th Heritage room, featuring an exhibition of religious artifacts, as well as the old Jos B. Michaud Blacksmith Shop, where the traditional craft of blacksmithing is beautifully showcased.

Insider tips

The region is rich with fascinating stories dating back to the Prohibition era.

Edmundston

Experience:

Nothing better for the well-being than letting yourself go down a quiet river in the middle of the forest, listening to the sounds of birds and maybe the laughter of children. Kasakayak, a small family business that rents canoes and kayaks, offers this service on the majestic Green River. To make the most of it, land directly by canoe/kayak directly at O’Shack Glamping, a relaxing paradise with Western décor, to stay overnight camping or in a cozy glamping-style chalet.

Insider tips

The name “Green River” comes from the Maliseet term “Komkoitegouk”, meaning “green water river”. This name reflects the distinctive color of the river’s waters, surrounded by dense forests and green hills.

Experience:

A discovery walk in downtown Edmundston is a great start from the Visitor Information Centre where you can park your car for the day. From there, walk to a pedestrian bridge across the Madawaska River, bringing you downtown. Walls adorned urban art and parks to discover on the way. With a coffee from the Brûlerie du Vieux Poste in hand, take a moment to appreciate the exhibitions featured at the Edmundston Arts Centre.

To conclude the walk on a pleasant note, enjoying a local beer at Les Brasseurs du Petit-Sault, and engaging in a conversation with the locals will perfectly complete your exploration of downtown Edmundston:)

Insider tips

The brewery is located in the former Edmundston police station. Ironically, this building, once a symbol of authority, is now a place of conviviality where craft beer is celebrated.

Experience:

The Fraser Edmundston Golf Club, located directly in the city of Edmundston surrounded by impressive mature trees, bordering the Madawaska River. A railroad track in the setting brings charm, even a unique challenge to the par 73 terrain. The Ateepic Microbrewery is comfortably nested in the heart of the course in the “Club house” to accommodate both golfers and non-golfers. Festive musical evenings and sunny days spent on the terrace enjoying a fine local beer—there is truly nothing better.
